![]() ![]() An outside hammer double barrel with a serial number of 116XXX would have been made in 1903, one hundred and ten years ago. Folsom could and did claim in their catalogs that they made the shotguns but as far as I'm concerned all guns were made in the factory with the Crescent name on it. Whatever Folsom wanted, Crescent made and what they wanted was a lot of inexpensive shotguns fast. They bought the company for a source of shotguns. Crescent Fire Arms Company was a wholly owned subsidiary of H & D Folsom. A "Trade Brand Name" shotgun by my own description is an inexpensive (read cheap but not cheaply made) shotgun made by a major maker (and before 1940) for and was sold by a wholesale sporting goods dealer, a retail chain store or an independent seller (your local hardware store) who chose the name to go on the gun. That is a "Trade Brand Name" used on shotguns made by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to1930+)for and sold at wholesale by the H & D Folsom Company, a wholesale and retail sporting goods, jobber and distributor located in New York City. ![]() There was no AMERICAN GUN CO OF NEW YORK. Can answer this one without even opening my book except for the serial number. ![]()
